As a family photographer in Florence Piazzale Michelangelo, I often find myself chasing those elusive moments of beauty and authenticity. This particular session, though lacking the usual soft sunrise or dramatic fog, was special in its own understated way.

We met at Piazzale Michelangelo just before dawn. The sky was hazy, the sun hidden behind a pale veil of mist, casting a muted light over the city below. There was no vibrant sunrise, no dramatic fog—only a soft, diffused glow and a quiet sense of stillness that made the setting feel even more intimate.

The family was radiant, dressed all in white. A mother and father with three charming children—two boys and a girl. The kids were joyful, expressive, and incredibly photogenic. Each one brought their own energy to the shoot: the eldest son, thoughtful and calm; the younger boy, full of movement and laughter; and the little girl, sweet and playful, often clinging to her mother’s hand or spinning in slow circles as her dress caught the breeze.
I guided them gently through the session, keeping the poses minimal and the movements natural. With such a lively group, I focused on capturing real connections—the way the children leaned into their parents, how they giggled at each other, the quiet glances between the couple that spoke of years of love and understanding.
Despite the lack of a “classic” sunrise, the warm tones of their clothing, the natural smiles, and the soft, diffused morning light created a feeling of calm beauty. The view of Florence in the background—slightly blurred by the mist—added an atmospheric touch that made the images feel timeless.
Photographing families in Florence is always an adventure, but this session at Piazzale Michelangelo reminded me that light is only one part of the story. Connection, emotion, and presence matter more. And when those elements come together, even a simple morning becomes unforgettable.
If you’re looking for a family photographer in Florence Piazzale Michelangelo, I would be honored to capture your family’s story in the heart of this beautiful city.
